A few signs, symptoms of depression are trouble sleeping, having no motivation to do anything, constant negativity or even a desire to abuse alcohol or drugs. The bottom line is if you feel tired, sad, irritable, lazy, unmotivated, or uninterested in life – you may be on the verge of entering depression.

What do you do when you suspect symptoms and signs of depression?

1. Find someone who can help you figure out what is causing you to be depressed. Find a trusted, mature friend, a counselor or therapist.

Or you may want to start by getting out your pen and paper and start writing down what you are feeling. Just write! Just write like you’re talking to an imaginary friend.

Perhaps you can start by answering the following questions…

  • What are you upset about?
  • What makes you frustrated, sad, angry?
  • Who are you upset with?
  • Who has caused you a great deal of sadness, anger, frustration, etc?

Then, step back and look at what you’ve written. If it’s absolutely dark and negative, then find someone to confide in and help you walk you through it. Your answers can often give you a clue of why you are suffering symptoms and signs of depression.

2. See your doctor and ask them if they can determine if your physical lifestyle is causing it, such as your diet and exercise habits. Those two individuals are a good start.

At the first sign of depression, if you are keen on picking up on it and taking care of yourself, you are apt to save yourself unnecessary illness. What do I mean? Well, its like if your tire gets a nail in it. If you notice it immediately and get it fixed, you save yourself from a potential accident. But, if you don’t notice the nail and keep driving, the nail can work itself deeper and deeper into the tire eventually causing it to blow and perhaps causing you an accident.
